Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled on the vibrant Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Montréal, Douro Montreal offers an authentic taste of Portugal through its exquisite Portuguese and Mediterranean cuisine. This charming restaurant and bar is a must-visit for those craving fresh, flavorsome seafood and classic Portuguese specialties in a warm, inviting atmosphere.

From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed by a warm decor that reflects the rich culture of Portugal, setting the perfect scene for an intimate dinner or lively gathering. The attentive and knowledgeable staff enhance the experience, making every guest feel like a valued part of the Douro family, as Johnny Jr. enthusiastically shares, “We were taken charge by the maître D from start to finish. All that was served was a pure delight and oh so delicious.”

The menu is a celebration of Mediterranean flavors with a strong focus on seafood, showcasing dishes that burst with freshness and vibrant tastes. While the fish of the day options highlight the chef’s dedication to premium ingredients, lovers of succulent cod or delicate tapas will find their cravings richly satisfied. The homemade leek soup and cod, though more subtle in flavor, still echo the restaurant’s commitment to quality. Diners should also not miss the house specialties like the celebrated pasteis de nata, a sacred Portuguese custard tart that’s the perfect sweet ending to any meal—curated with the same care as their robust wine selection.

Marielvi Falvino beautifully captures the essence of Douro's ambiance and service, praising its "great atmosphere, warm decor," and the "friendly and very attentive" waitstaff. Their curated wine list pairs effortlessly with the robust flavors of the food, enriching the dining experience. The presentation of dishes is artful yet inviting, encouraging diners to indulge in every bite.

Regulars like Ricardo appreciate how the place manages to blend consistency with warmth. The personalized service that remembers returning clients adds a comforting touch not often found in larger establishments.

What truly sets Douro Montreal apart is its ability to transport you to the sun-kissed shores of Portugal without leaving the heart of Montréal. Whether you're enjoying a lively evening with friends over tapas and tasteful wines, or savoring a quiet meal that feels like a culinary embrace, Douro promises an experience filled with genuine passion for Portuguese food and culture.

For seafood aficionados, culture seekers, and anyone yearning for a genuine Mediterranean dining journey, Douro Montreal stands as a treasured gem. With each visit, you are invited to discover new dishes and delights, forging your own connection to the tastes of Portugal. As one group of Travelling Gourmets reflected, “What a Montreal treasure!” and indeed, Douro is exactly that—an inviting doorway to authentic Portuguese flavors and hospitality.

This is a seafood restaurant. As in, there is nothing but seafood on the menu. They were nice enough to prepare chicken for one of the people in our group though. The waiter explained that they keep a very limited supply of chicken on hand but it's not on the menu. I had the leek soup and the cod. The soup was nothing special and the cod was fine. Portions were fairly small and I left hungry. The people who ordered clams got 4 clams. I do like the atmosphere here. Even when it's full, it's quiet enough so that it's possible to have a conversation with the folks you went to dinner with. Service was professional and quick.

I have gone to Douro 2 times now and have been impressed both times. The food was really good. The customer service was also really good. The waiter remembered us from when we came a year ago. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some good quality Portuguese food. Good wine selection.

What a Montreal treasure ! Having just returned from Portugal in September, we were thrilled to be introduced to this restaurant by friends. From the start, the service was friendly and helpful. We had the mixed tapas to start, and all 4 of us were entirely satisfied. The bread, olives & beans, and soft cheese accompaniment were quickly devoured. We chose the fish of the day (one fresh Icelandic cod and the other a branzino). Both fish were pan-fried in a light caper & butter, were delicious and moist, and came with mashed potatoes, and grilled vegetables. The men had the bitoque steak meal and the salted cod plate. The bitoque was amazingly tender with a sauce so reminiscent of those in Portugal. Dessert was fantastic carrot cake and the "heavenly dessert" (nata do céu), and with coffee, they were the perfect end to our meal. Prices were above normal but everything is fresh, plentiful, and delicious. It was our first time, but we are hoping to return again for more flavors of Portugal .

Amazing food, service and hospitality in this little corner of Portugal in Montréal! I’m originally from Montréal but moved permanently to Portugal. Douro is the favourite restaurant of my family members in Montréal. My first time at Douro Restaurant was 10 years ago and it’s still a must-go every time I visit the city. They have a great menu and selection of top Portuguese wines. Our recent family lunch was once again delicious… tomato & fresh cheese salad, mackerel, sea bass, paelha, creme caramel, leite creme and pears poached in Port wine. It’s good to see a Portuguese restaurant done so well outside of Portugal.
